"Please, keep going."
Oct. 19th, 2007 07:15 pmMostly, it's just a boat-load of quotes that read like slash fic (except they're 100% canon), with the odd few lines of commentary/analysis from me.
I'll start with my mighty triumvirate of canon-establishing quotes of yay!
(On how Wilson came to cheat on his wives; and Cameron couldn't on her husband)
--Episode 2x06, Spin.
And yes, Wilson's choice of the unspecific "someone" has been discussed and debated ad nauseam, so I'll spare you here, but. Yeah, teleplay writing...
--Episode 3x05, Fools for love.
From this, I conclude House was Wilson's mystery person. As for timeline, I'm basing my reasoning on this:
--episode 2x11, Need To Know
Specific to this last one, I'd like to point out how fiercely protective of each other Wilson and House can get - or might one say possessive? But I'll get back to that. Or not. Because, really, all those quotes do speak for themselves. ♥
From these three scenes combined, I've derived the bases for my interpretation of canon. It might get scrapped by further canon evidence later - probably will at some point - but for now I have no problem taking it as the undeniable truth. *g*
It's hard to tell how long House and Wilson have known each other, but I'd say they've been friends for upwards of fifteen years. I don't know where Wilson was when House had his infarction, and I'm certainly not one of those fans who'll swear up and down he must have been on honeymoon(or that his brother's name HAS to be David, for that matter), but one thing I'm sure of is he was there the whole time after. This is when I place the first affair; after Stacy left, obviously.
I'd say this is what led to the downfall of Wilson's second marriage - and he must have been two-timing House and Bonnie for at least a short amount of time, for all of House's spikes at Wilson's fidelity issues still to this day. I still think most of those are telling of an actual deep-seated, though well-disguised anguish that Wilson will end up forsaking him for the last Mrs. Wilson, btw.
Then Julie came along and, to me, that's when House called it quits - maybe even before Wilson had started anything serious with her.
So, yeah. In a nutshell, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Until it gets jossed, that is.
In the meantime, have a few more, telling quotes. Telling of how well they know each other, how invested they are in each other's businesses, how much they care, etc.
--Episode 3x20, House Training
--Episode 1x18, Babies And Bathwater
--Episode 1x11, Detox
--Episode 1x20, Love Hurts
--Episode 2x16, Safe.
--Episode 3x11, Words And Deeds
&TCETERA, &TCETERA. It really is a shame I'm in a bit of a hurry, or I'd have something to say to go along with each of these and more. Recurring themes observed straight from canon: constant meddling in each other's lives (like duh), House sourly commenting on Wilson's alleged love affairs, Wilson naggingly lecturing House about his supposed own well-being (I've theorized that this is all tainted with guilt on Wilson's behalf), breaches of personal space all the time... Among others.
Now, to end on a bittersweet note:
--Episode 3x11, Words And Deeds
In conclusion: House/Wilson = totally canon (, bitches!) \o/
LOL, I've spent an hour on this post. >_< Oh well, it was an enjoyable hour. Off to the movies now, yay. :D
I'll start with my mighty triumvirate of canon-establishing quotes of yay!
(On how Wilson came to cheat on his wives; and Cameron couldn't on her husband)
WILSON: My wife wasn't dying, she wasn't even sick. Everything was fine. I met someone who made me feel... funny. Good. And I didn't want to let that feeling go. What happened to you, how can anyone go through that alone? You can't control your emotions.
CAMERON: No. Just your actions.
WILSON: You didn't do it, did you? You didn't sleep with him.
CAMERON: I couldn't have lived with myself.
WILSON: (smiles) You'd be surprised what you can live with.
--Episode 2x06, Spin.
And yes, Wilson's choice of the unspecific "someone" has been discussed and debated ad nauseam, so I'll spare you here, but. Yeah, teleplay writing...
WILSON: You're a miserable jerk who can't stand to be alone.
HOUSE: I didn't try to break up your marriages. You did that yourself.
WILSON: My marriages were so crappy, I was spending all my time with you. Your real fear is me having a good relationship.
HOUSE: (sarcastic) Yes.
--Episode 3x05, Fools for love.
From this, I conclude House was Wilson's mystery person. As for timeline, I'm basing my reasoning on this:
WILSON: What the hell did you do? Were you just cold and lonely?
STACY: 'Course he told you, he's an 8-year-old boy.
WILSON: Hey, you're the one who kissed him.
STACY: Why are you so worked up over this?
WILSON: Because you're married.
STACY: Not to you. This is none of your business.
WILSON: The last time you left, I was the one stuck picking up the pieces.
STACY: Oh, right, he cried himself to sleep every night. That so sounds like him.
WILSON: He's been pining for five years!
STACY: You're being dramatic.
WILSON: No, actually, I'm underplaying it.

WILSON: She's the worst realtor in New Jersey. What is this, escalation? I go out with Cuddy, you hook up with my ex? I don't even know what that's designed to do.
HOUSE: You're an addict. I'm saving you from yourself.
WILSON: By condo shopping? Thank you.
HOUSE: If I can figure out where you keep going wrong, then I can nip this Cuddy thing in the bud before she becomes the fourth ex-Mrs. Wilson.
WILSON: Yes, I was worried there was no way to stop that train.
(and; later)
BONNIE: James was right? I never had the teeniest chance of selling you anything.
HOUSE: Of course he was right. Wilson doesn't stop giving good advice just 'cause you're divorced. He's compulsive about remaining on good terms with his exes.
--Episode 3x20, House Training
WILSON: I've got no kids, my marriage sucks; I've only got two things that work for me: this job and this stupid, screwed-up friendship, and neither mattered enough to you to give one lousy speech.
HOUSE: They matter. If I could do it all again -
WILSON: You'd do the same thing.
--Episode 1x18, Babies And Bathwater
HOUSE: I said I was an addict. I didn't say I had a problem. I pay my bills, I make my meals. I function.
WILSON: Is that all you want? You have no relationships.
HOUSE: I don't want any relationships.
WILSON: You alienate people.
HOUSE: I've been alienating people since I was three.
WILSON: Oh, come on! Drop it! You don't think you've changed in the last few years?
HOUSE: Well, of course I have. I've- I've gotten older. My hair's gotten thinner. Sometimes I'm bored, sometimes I'm lonely, sometimes I wonder what it all means.
WILSON: No, I was there! You're not just a regular guy who's getting older, you've changed! You're miserable, and you're afraid to face yourself -
HOUSE: (slams his cane down) Of course I've changed!
WILSON: And everything's the leg? Nothing's the pills? They haven't done a thing to you?
HOUSE: They let me do my job, and they take away my pain.
WILSON WALKS OFF, EXASPERATED.
--Episode 1x11, Detox
WILSON: Hi. Are you, uh, can we talk?
CAMERON: Gee, I wonder what this is going to be about.
WILSON: I just want to make sure no one gets hurt.
CAMERON: I will be fine. Everybody's acting like I'm going out with Jack the Ripper.
WILSON: Oh, it's not you I'm worried about. It's been a long time since he opened up to someone, and I... you better be absolutely sure you want this because if he opens up again and gets hurt, I don't think there's going to be a next time.
--Episode 1x20, Love Hurts
HOUSE: So what? What did I do to you? I scammed you into doing the dishes, made you sit on the steps. I didn't kill your puppy. I did not make you miserable.
WILSON: Oh, so this is therapy?
HOUSE: No... Just makes me smile.
WILSON: All right, I'm finding a new place tomorrow.
HOUSE: Right, but not tonight.
WILSON: Well, I figure you wanna shave my eyebrows while I'm asleep, I wouldn't want to deprive you of that last smile.
HOUSE: You're not going anywhere. You're going to sit on my couch, and depress us both because you just can't admit that it's over with your wife.
WILSON: That's right, I'm here on vacation.
HOUSE: Have you gotten a lawyer yet?
WILSON: That's- That's not...
HOUSE: You even called one? As long as you're here, it's just a fight. As soon as you get a place, then it's a divorce. Everything sucks. Might as well find something to smile about.
--Episode 2x16, Safe.
WILSON: Meaning takes time. It takes work.
HOUSE: What do you think I've been doing?
WILSON: You've been here for two days! Talk about wallowing in it. We all get it, we know how much pain you have. You're here to deal with that and get on with your life.
HOUSE: Right! I should have an affair with a dying patient and move into a hotel.
WILSON: You're a coward house. You find fault in everybody because you're afraid to look at yourself.
HOUSE: Thanks, I was running short on platitudes, you can leave now.
--Episode 3x11, Words And Deeds
