Some (rambly) thoughts on House.
- I'll mention this now because they've done it again, but it was true in the past and will be true again : it irks me infinitely how they have House perform complex surgeries. He's not a surgeon! Not a neurosurgeon, not a cardiac surgeon, not an anything surgeon, damn it. Nephrology, infectious diseases, and diagnostics. Those are his. Surgery? SINCE WHEN, I ASK, SINCE WHEN? Meh.
- Chase's "yo mama" joke was so lame, you have to feel for the guy. Everyone's reaction = priceless. Poor wombat.
- And yes, I'm using this icon because House and Wilson need to kiss and make-up already.
- That said I would totally buy a Wilson/Cuddy established relationship, in a heartbeat. I'd even gladly believe Cuddy's hypothetical baby is Wilson's iiiiiif if IF he hadn't called her "Cuddy" in conversation last week. Because that'd just be weird, for him not to call her "Lisa" if they're involved romantically.(Unless, y'know, a scriptwriter disagrees with that, and how Wilson addresses Cuddy actually bears little to no relevance at all.)
- Speaking of these two, I needed to break down both their points of view to wrap my (blonde-haired) head around the whole dilemma. I've concluded that Cuddy believes House's returning pain has a mainly psychological cause. Wilson, on the other hand, believes the pain is indeed a physiological phenomena accountable to the original muscle damage and failure of the treatment to perpetuate the cure. Wilson wants to use House's relative healthiness and consequent agreeable mood, while they last, as an opportunity to tackle his last dangerous addiction.
- Cameron wasn't as bad as last week (still her silly little meddling self), but I still LOVED Cuddy's line about her to Wilson. Also? The subtext for that was so totally "I feel comfortable enough in our relationship that I can tell you how I truly feel about a grating employee and trust that it won't get around."
- "I want you to run." ♥ Okay, I know, that scene was packed full of WTFness, with Wilson just giving House his Damn Vicodin Pills (©Chase, 208) and House openly admitting how miserable he is ("What part of 'poop' didn't you understand?") but there was also so much guuuuuuuuuh. One, I choose to believe Wilson was testing House. C'mon, he's not an idiot, it must've taken him all of 4 seconds to notice something wrong with his scrip' pad the next morning. Maybe he wanted House to confess, because he may not be an idiot, but he sure can be a romantic fool. (Hello, Greek mythology!) Two, "I want you to run". I heard that not only as a 'I want you to take a run right now because you really should' but also, and I have to say more immediately so, as a 'I want you to always be able to run like you are now'. I heard deep concern (love, even, platonic though it may indeed be) in that line. Admittedly, I'm biased, but really, it's how I heard the line. Very Wilson-like. And three, House is off exercising, with the help of his old pal Vic, as soon as Wilson's out of his face. That makes me all wibbly for some reason, how he actually listens to Wilson more than he lets on - thus making the "you've proven that" bit of Wilson's argument all the more nasty.
- Oh, and PotW. I loved that Chase is a believer, LMAO. "The lab couldn't identify the metal." "0mgwtfbbqRLY? O__O" How so very endearing. The screen chase was a highlight as well. Oh and was that the oncology lounge with the high definition TV screen? 'Cause I remember seeing a foosball table there, the one from... Was it Sex Kills? Anyway, loved that whole bit.
- I want patients in danger of dying again, though. (Does that make me evil?) I mean, obviously the kid in this episode couldn't possibly live eternally with his I-forget-what-it's-called, but they didn't seem to make a big deal out of that at all, and so I didn't feel as much empathy towards the kid as I might have, were the case presented differently. A 7-year-old kid, for crying out loud! And I'm the Queen of Empathy herself! That said, I'm happy about the character-drive, to be sure. I wouldn't want to take away from it, I simply feel the patient case this week could have been written a little bit better. Think back to Autopsy exactly a season ago, it's apples and oranges.
- Also need CLINIC PATIENTS! We have yet to see the first one of the season (I'm not counting bucketful-of-Viagra'd-be-nice, 'cause really, he's just a plot device). That is just not on. The clinic always provides for great snark - it's really not the same when it's targeted towards the regulars. I want to mock random idiots again!
- Cuddy! Pregnancy! How awesome was the "what's up with your leg? / what's up with your boobs?" exchange? And House speaking to her stomach, zomg!! Heh, notice how after she comes clean about the lie, he just snorts unbegrudgingly like he's thinking along the lines of 'why am I not surprised?' It does my shippy heart good to see he took it harder coming from Wilson. Because I HAVE FAITH that the writers will make it right again, and the good H/W shall be back.
- Yes. House/Wilson. Last scenes. LURVE. (And. WILSON FLOPPY HAIR! SQUEE SQUEE SQUEE!) Ha, I like how quick Wilson is to take the blame far away from Cuddy. Not that there was any need, anyway, but it's sweet how he wastes no time diverting the fault from her. (I'm telling you, if it weren't for that stray "Cuddy," last week, I'd be sold on them without the shadow of a doubt.) I also like how House figured out it was all Wilson's doing as soon as the cat was out of the bag. I love how Wilson doesn't for one second try to deny it. I love how House just KNOWS it all came about from his damn good intentions and concern for him. I adore how beautifully Wilson tries to justify his concerns, and if that wasn't love (whatever the kind), I'm taking a life membership to the Cameron fanclub first thing tomorrow. I love that unyielding stare of House's, the This-Is-Not-Over look, and those last words he said to mean he has all the reminder he needs that he's not all-powerful. (Best line the ever, and/or Hugh Laurie is God.) I love Wilson's body language, how he feels like utter crap after House leaves his office. Which reminds me, I love how House entered without knocking and it was as if Wilson had been expecting him (but then again, isn't he always?) I love how the scrip' theft hasn't come up yet. I like how all-up-in-the-air it still is between the two; it promises of great further development in episodes to come. (And I will so beat on the writers if they don't deliver.)
- And you know one thing I don't like? Blatant product placement! Ugh! I don't usually mind so much, but they were so INYOURFACE in this episode. Unbelievable. House always had an iPod, did we need a close-up on it after two whole seasons of knowing he own one or more? Sheesh. Same with the Nikes. And the new John Mayer album, for that matter. Because I love the guy, but I don't honestly believe in coincidences that have a song play in a top-rated show airing the very day the CD is released. S'okay, though, I'll blame FOX and their greed for money. (What else is new?)
- What did I forget... Oooh, but of course, the cane! The cane is back, heeee! The round-handle one isn't my favorite, but what the hell, I don't have to walk with it. And the bike also made an appearance! For some reason, that made me all giddy. It's the House that we know. Yay!
- Preview for next week: was that Cameron crying? Isn't that just giving away the ending? I swear if she ends up euthanizing the guy and agonizing over the morals of the act, I will never watch a promo again. Episode looks good, though!

Date: 2006-09-14 02:29 am (UTC)Great episode. I almost didn't wanna slap Cameron at all (but then I saw the preview). Hurray for bad 'yo mamma' jokes. He should've ended that one with a finger snap.
