So, Heroes, 2x08: Four Months Ago...

This episode was hyped as the best thing since sliced bread, and well, while I definitely enjoyed it, all those expectations laid upon it were impossible to meet. I still enjoyed it greatly, although it possibly rises even more questions than it answers. Not much time to flesh out my points as much as I'd like (or at all), so I've had to keep this short.

We basically had three storylines this week, one of which I could have easily done without: Maya y Alejandro. I've liked them from the start, but I fail to see how those new scenes were at all necessary. I've skipped them on my rewatch, and nothing strikes me as particularly noteworthy, so I'll just skip them in this review.

That leaves us with Niki and Peter. Ladies first; I liked Niki's scenes a whole lot more this week than I usually do. It was a treat to see DL again, he's very cool, and Micah is so cute it almost hurts. Gina totally came out of left field, LOL! 'Twas fun for a while, though. Until the part where DL gets shot to death, ugh! Fail. How many times do we have to see him die, anyway? I'd been speculating/hoping he died from the virus, but I guess that setup wouldn't have fit into one episode? Nana, Monica and Damon showing up at the funeral was a little weird, seeing as Micah said he'd never met them before when Niki took him to their house. I get that he was distraught, understandably, but still.

Now, Peter Petrelli's hour of glory! I loved all of his scenes, LOL. I'd be here for hours if I had to enumerate all of my favorite moments and really, there isn't one I didn't like, so I'll just say all of it made me happy. Besides, there were so many ellipses - fantastic fodder for overactive imaginations. Other people around: Elle is batshit crazy and I'm still on the fence about her, Bob can totally give HRG a run for his money in terms of moral grayness, and Adam is amazing and I heart him lots and lots already! Yay. As for Nathan, lols, I'm just saying he must have been terribly busy over his mere three weeks out of hospital. Also, 'twas awful of Angela to tell Heidi he was nutso. Evil woman.

I wish I had more time to elaborate on everything. To sum up, I expected more characters to be featured in this episode, and the absence of the Bennets or Parkmans struck me as odd, though in the case of the latter I'm quite content with the liberty thereby granted to fanfiction fiends... It was a good episode. Maybe not a great one, maybe it should have been a two-parter and included more characters and stories, but it wasn't outright bad either. There could have been more to it, but what was in was good stuff. There's a good chance I'll be posting more rambly ideas on various points later in the week - I really have to gather my thoughts because if you listened carefully, there was a myriad little (or not-so-little) things to pick up on this week.

Polls will follow in a couple of hours.

Yep that's summing it up for me there. ;) But looks like next week HRG will reign Heroes-verse. :D

Fingers crossed! You know, I can't quite believe how much I've come to love HRG. It's quite spectacular. :}
