Last day of con reporting. ;_;
But how was my week, between then and now? Rather uneventful, to be honest. I bought a stationary bike, which I think I may have mentioned before? Am still waiting for the delivery. Did I mention David and Clémence are repatriating at the end of themonth week? They're having trouble conceiving, and medical attention isn't as readily available in Djibouti. My parents have been apartment hunting, and mom finally found a decent place for them in town, so that's good. Side observation of random: holy manatee, I did not see the month of March whoosh by. I wonder why, heh.
I hope every one who celebrates it had a pleasant Easter weekend. We actually went to the Tex-Mex restaurant we like for lunch. Was good. And all day long yesterday, I kept cracking up with every bite of chocolate I had, because it made me think of Cristine Rose. *facepalm* "Overdose of chocolate."
And whilst I'm being somewhat random, I so need a new mp3 player. Mine is literally falling apart. I actually have to use a clothes pin to hold it together. It's very stylish, as you can probably imagine. I'll probably get me an iPod one of these days, although it absolutely cannot claim a priority spot on my budget. I'll just make-do with my yellow plastic peg in the mean time, heh.
But back to Eclipse, for the last timeuntil November:
Sunday, March 16th
We came down for breakfast at 7:30 again. Ate copiously again. Saw the crewing she-male in the restaurant and had our first big LOLS of the day. I don't know why we were talking about said she-male, but I wasn't sure what pronoun to use. So I stalled in my speech to ask aloud "he? she?" And Carmen, without missing a beat, cut in with "it!!" and I just about lost. my. shit. LMAO! No offense meant to this person, of course. This is just another case of had to be there, I guess, but omg I laughed so hard when I remembered that yesterday.
After eating, we began queuing right outside the main hall, scored ourselves some comfy chairs and just sat there unbothered for a few minutes. Of course, a crewmember soon told us we were not to wait in this area and we had to move back two sets of double doors. D: We complied, obviously, mindful of not losing our due prime spots in the line. We were then informed of a change in the schedule, which worked out for the best, as it meant David's photo session wouldn't have to clash with any of the talks, as had been initially purported. Well, it did a little bit, as I think things ran a little late in the morning, but Zarina was able to get her picture done before the first talk actually started, so all was well.
Talks were, once again, AWESOME! I neglected to mention, in my last entry, that we submitted tons upon tons of questions. Including ones which were more than decent/interesting/both. We did however figure a fair share of, shall we say, odd questions would get through to the guests, so we submitted a bunch of those as well. This is how questions such as "do you believe in astral projection?" or "could you please say 'my father's research'?" were asked. You don't have to thank us. *g*
Oh look! Someone named
not_san_diego posted the videos in their journal. Sockpuppet? I know nothing of this.
For the most part, I thought the moderator did a good job. The only things I didn't like were the repeat questions, the imposed structure in the final group talk, and the fact that NOT A SINGLE ONE of our questions pertaining to ~*~Heroes: The Musical (On Ice!!!!1!)~*~ got asked. Fail. D:
So in the morning, we had Cristine y Santiago, Noah y Sendhil, and David y Jessalyn. This is when we stole Sendhil's and David's water bottles, that they fiddled with and DRANK FROM before our very eyes. Hahaha, we are insane. We are fangirls. We are insane fangirls. We are writing a book!
After talks were over, I think we went out for lunch. To the McDonald's, obviously. (I'd received an e-mail from my brother, and had to coordinate a family emergency over the phone. Nice timing, dude.) We had also had the brilliant idea earlier of dumping a huge pile of chewing gum packs on Anders's signing table at some point in the afternoon, so we went and bought those. Upon return to the hotel, I bought extra autograph tickets for Anders, Sendhil, Noah and Cristine. I love Santiago and Jessalyn of course, but getting seconds from them would have left me a little left of my comfort zone, financially speaking.
Carmen got her Belgian stalklates from her room, and we proceeded to queue in autograph lines to give every one their batch. I don't remember what I was doing when Santiago or Jessalyn got theirs so I don't think I was around (but I wasn't avoiding them, honest!) When Sendhil saw them chocolates, he was like "Oh my god, I'm going to be SO fat when I go home. I got, like, 17 pounds of chocolate over the weekend!" XD Carmen protested hers were special because they were a) the best and b) magic - they don't make you fat. So then Sendhil said something like, "Non-fattening chocolates! That's what I'll tell myself when I'm chugging them down my throat." And we all LOL'd. Then I gave him my picture for him to sign, and was incapable of speech again, so when he said "Adeline?" all I could do was grin and nod dumbly, and then say thanks. dsgkjj;ALSADL;K!
I'm not sure what order we actually did these in, but I'm fairly certain we went to David next. Carmen went first, gave him her chocolates and the chewing gum. Then Zarina dropped some more gum on his table without saying a word and he cracked up, and was all "lol, WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY?I don't understand. XD" Hahaha. I gave him my photo to sign, and just before I left, said "oh, and also:" and gave him more gum. Cue more lolz, and we walked away all giggly-like. XD
We lined up in Noah's queue next, and a crewmember told me at this point they weren't letting in people who got extra autograph tickets, because not all attendees had got the ones included with their entry tickets. :o Whatever, I just said I was sticking with my friends to give him the candy and wouldn't have him sign anything. No scruples either, because dude, why the fuck were they even selling more autograph tickets? Anyhow! Noah recognized us as Team Yatta! members and was really happy with the chocolates, as was his mom, for whom Carmen had also prepared a bundle. ^^
While we were in that queue, David left to briefly have lunch. The whiteboard at the end of his line said BRB IN 10 U GUYZ. Only, more English, less macro. In that time, we joined the Cristine queue and by the time we were almost at the front, we saw him return! He unloaded his jacket pockets onto his table and they were CHOCK full of candy, it was hilarious. Twix bars, Tic Tacs, and a LOT of gum - including all of that which we gave him a short time earlier. Haha, he's such a kid. Best part? Some of those packs were already open. Hee. ^^ (I mentioned that we are insane, right?)
Anyhow, Cristine! So Carmen said, "here are your stalklates!" and she was like "AAAAAAAAAH!!! >:O" with the best face ever. XD And then she said, "now I can go home to LA." I love her. Also when I gave her our photo to sign, she was like, "ooh, I love this picture!" and was just really sweet.
Meantime, Zarina and Julie had started queuing outside the hall for the final talk and closing ceremony. I went upstairs to unload some video files and thus make room on my SD card. Which, again, took forever and a day - i.e. something like 45 minutes. I'd said I'd be gone 15. :/ The doors opened at 6 (I think?) and we thankfully managed to score the front-center aisle seats again. I sat on the second row and dragged my chair about 4-5 more inches to the left, into the aisle, to get the best possible filming angle.
AND THAT LAST TALK WAS AMAZING OMG. My only gripe is that it only lasted about 45 minutes instead of the four hours and a half it clearly SHOULD have gone on for, amirite? *sigh* Those guys are the bestest evar. As I said above, I kind of wish the order of response hadn't been so structured, because I feel it took away some of the spontaneity in the session, but overall it was a fantastic panel.
And then it was over and we wept, wept, wept inside. We made another trip to our room, Jules changed into her Buffy outfit in anticipation for the Heroes & Villains themed party, and then we went out for dinner. Zarina and I really wanted tuna sandwiches from Subway, but the stupid store was CLOSED at 8pm on a Sunday. What the eff? Fail. D: The next pub we stopped by had stopped serving food, but the barman told us where we'd find something to eat. We got lasagne or fish and chips. That's right, no McD's! No need to *gasp* ;)
We headed back to the hotel afterwards, only to find the 'party' wasn't as much a party as it was people sitting round tables and talking. No music, no party hall, nothing very exciting, alas. Well, some people wore really cool costumes, but other than that, nothing was really worth hanging around for. So we didn't stay long, as we had some sleep to catch up on and bags to pack, but we did make a stop in the lobby where we had a fun, brief talk with Sam (
kleenexcow), Katie (
hobbit_eyes) and Lyndsey (
evil15smiles). And then up we went.
Con over. ;_____; I left the next morning by the 7:22 train, arrived at Birmingham airport at 8:09 and boarded my flight home at 10:30. And it's taken me this long to tell of it all.
I STILL MISS EVERY ONE SO MUCH OMG. <\3
And I've decided that some way, somehow, I will definitely be going to Eclipse 2. If the guest lineup is half as good as this one was, it will be a total blast.
But how was my week, between then and now? Rather uneventful, to be honest. I bought a stationary bike, which I think I may have mentioned before? Am still waiting for the delivery. Did I mention David and Clémence are repatriating at the end of the

Date: 2008-03-25 01:57 pm (UTC)Aw, but we have lots of options still! Publishing Fangirling For Dummies this week, winning the lottery, robbing a bank, marrying into money,
killing a rich, long-lost relative... XDno subject
Date: 2008-03-25 02:03 pm (UTC)I'll start:
Once upon a time there was a group of crazy girls, calling themselves "Team Yatta". They are what you could say "fangirls" and this is their amazing story about Sendhil senses, stalking cheese factories, running through London, hot brownies, late night giggle fests and having the time of their lives. Their expertise and smart tactics will help every boy and girl to discover and understand the extraordinary world of fandom.

Date: 2008-03-25 03:19 pm (UTC)I spent the afternoon doing research. A return to London from Sydney is in our currency 1000 euros. It might be cheaper to get a round the world ticket and plan in my other trips as well (NZ, Adelaide, etc) from some places for example Sydney-Wellington-London I get free stops to make it for example: Sydney-Wellington-Auckland-Sydney-London (and you can stay there as long as you want so I can easily do my NZ trip in once then). But it's difficult to figure out online what's cheap and travel agents just wanna make money so they won't just tell me the least expensive stuff anyway :\

Date: 2008-03-26 05:56 pm (UTC)The "free stops" tickets sounds AWESOMESAUCE. I hope you can find more info on those. Evil greedy travel agents are evil. And greedy. D: D:
