Heroes
4x05: Hysterical Blindness
OMFG!?
:O
SYLAR DIDN'T KILL PSYCHIATRIST LADY, WHUT?! I'm not upset or anything, but I fully expected her to meet a gruesome demise by episode's end, so it was an "OMFG" moment when she didn't, to be sure.
Which brings me to, OMFG THE CARNIVAL TELEPORTS ITSELF? That's kinda awesome.
Nathanites Never Say Die
Wtf happened to the body anywayz?!??!
Oh, Angela. Now you see what you've done, and it doesn't stop the sadness. <\3 Cristine Rose owns, as ever. Her longing glance at that empty chair spoke volumes of guilt and tragedy. o_O
And why is Peter not any more worried? He even knew about ~Nathan's intentions to talk to Millie! Wtf?
Mohinder Watch
Have you seen a sexy geneticist?
Getting ridiculous, huh?
Okay, cool.
(I begrudgingly liked this...)
Peter losing the speeding ability for ~*~teh prtyy lights~*~ was hilarious, and I loved his theme hiccuping on each of his attempts. That was my favorite part of the episode.
Another highlight was Winston Zeddemore. \o/ (I would gripe that I wanted to see Quinto play a clueless ~Nathan, but I actually quite like the thought of blank!Gabriel joining the carnival, so I'll let it slide.)
Freaking moving carnival! Hee. Getting more and more intriguing with each episode. Firstly, Rebecca? WELCOME. The reveal that she was behind eeeverything on Claire's campus felt a little rushed and tacked-on, but I don't even care, I like the girl. She's invisible. And also? Totally Claude's daughter in my head. Secondly, Samuel, handsome megalomaniac devil that he is. UNF. Thirdly, and I wouldn't have picked up on this if not for
canadian_turtle, Emma's cello Musical Instrument of Mass Destruction was brought into her apartment by Edgar. LOL, there is nothing about all of this I don't love. I'm sure Kami's blueberry waffles are amazing, too.
Hiro popping up in Peter's apartment at the end was exciting - just wish he'd managed to say SOMETHING before he passed out, lol. I look forward to seeing Peter deal with it.
I don't actually mind Gretchen too much. I mean, she's a creepy stalker, but no more so than West ever was, and she seems pretty funny. So, Gretchen, I don't mind.
I call shenanigans!
(... but let me tell you how you still suck.)
Gretchen's crush, on the other hand, is so clearly a half-assed attempt to bring in ratings, it's a disgrace - one more in a long line, you might say (and you wouldn't be wrong). Gods forbid it ever be Claire who gets the hots for a girl. We wouldn't want to tarnish her angelic image, now would we? *gag* I miss the days of Zach knowing who he is and liking who he is.
Hey, is Thomas Dekker doing anything this season? WHAT AM I SAYING? RUN, THOMAS, RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNN!
Moving on. I am so very sorry, Zachary Quinto, maybe for a while I've been too hardcore of a fan, but when blank!Gabriel is in the interrogation room, all I see is this:

And it makes me LOL, duh. (The hair isn't helping. Good gods man, haircuts. You need one.)
Anyway. The psychiatrist tasked with evaluating blank!Gabriel was all kinds of failsauce. I find it ~amusing~ how Emma is given multiple lines about file clerk pride while in the meantime, mental health professionals are portrayed in an utterly ridiculous light...
Brain Crumbs
Scattered thoughts
Starting with live thoughts as I was watching (these are some of the comments I made on the ongoing post @
fly_by_day last night)
- LOL CLAIRE WHY SO CUTE?
- PETER WANTS ATTENSHUNZ ANGELA!!!
- WEST/GRETCHEN OTP NOW PRACTICALLY CANON
- OMG HOW CUTE WAS MILO AND MASI'S SHORT FILM? SIUAFHIOJDAKASLDHFJKA
- WHERE IS MOHINDERRRR???
- WHERE IS HESAAAAAAM???
- THIS IS ADORABLE. PETER LUVS TEH PRITTY LIGHTS :DDD
- LMFAO I LOVE EMMA. THAT'LL LEARN YOU TO NEGLECT HESAM, PETER. HE ALWAYS WANTS LUNCH, HE DOES.AND DESSERT.
- TRUE STORY: I WOULD TAKE "SLOW BURN" OVER A BUNCH OF THE SCENES IN THE TV SHOW
- GUUURL YOU GON' GET SYLARED
- THIS YEAR ON HEROES, CLAIRE SHARES A WARDROBE WITH HAYDEN PANETTIERE
- NO HRG + NO PASDAR + NO EVIL BITCH HEAD!SYLAR + NO HESAM = WHY DID I EVEN WATCH THIS! lmao. I did rather enjoy it though.
More:
- You know, I'm pretty sure in a much better-written show, Peter's aloofness and distance from the people in his life, not to mention ever-so-slight aggressivity (kicking trash cans) would be telltale signs of PTSD or some such affliction. Boy's been through a lot in recent times, I would readily buy into it. But this is Heroes, and I am not delusional enough to believe any of the above is a telltale sign of anything other than iffy characterization. So I don't know what to make of him demanding attention from Angela - is he yearning for closeness, comfort, what? And I certainly don't know what to make of his ignoring ~Nathan's calls for weeks and then not allowing his brother the benefit of the doubt. Mysteries for the ages, alas.
- LOL Claire, why don't you shout about serial killers chasing you just a little bit louder? I think the deaf file clerk all the way over in NYC didn't ear you properly.
- I'm liking Emma so far, I dig her personality and her power finally seems to be somewhat relevant. I may even warm up to hers and Peter's ~romance~ (though my heart bleeds for past lovers scorned *coughHesamcough*), but did that piano playing scene really need to run that long? SERIOUSLY, WE GET IT GUYS. Again, precious airtime that may have otherwise allowed us to check in on incomprehensibly neglected characters *coughMohindercough*. Sigh.
Hotass o' The Week
Half the reason I keep watching
[insert Peter screencap here]
♥
HBIC o' The Week
Head Bitch In Charge
Samuel Sullivan, who'll say grace whenever the hell he damn well pleases. Rebecca seems like a fierce bitch in training, too, so let's see how she holds up over time.
Ship o' The Week
lol romance?
... I got nothing. Samuel/Gabriel??!?
Best line
I may or may not quote this irl
"You didn't just talk to the aide? That Elizabeth woman is a phone message black hole."
LOL. Only Angela Petrelli can come up with demeaning one-liners such as this and layer them with legit concern for her fake son.
Most burning question?
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! *flails*
HOW LONG TILL OUR UNWORTHY EYES SHALL FALL UPON THE PASDAR AGAIN? ;_;
Who was Christopher to Emma, and how did he die?
Overall,
I somewhat enjoyed this episode. It seems like we're finally building towards something - I don't know what, but something - hopefully not lame. I'm an optimist, what can I say?
Lastly and outside a cut, if this is indeed true and about Heroes (and there is little doubt in my mind), whoever The Powers That Be are behind the scenes disgust me to end. D: I feel awful for the loyal cast and crew of classy professionals who have worked tirelessly to make this show the best possible experience. GQMFs, all of 'em. ;) Whatever happens at the end of this season, they have my eternal support and admiration. ♥ (Kring and accomplices gets my eternal rage.)

Date: 2009-10-14 01:15 am (UTC)Well,my extremely stupid theory: Samuel was planting the seeds for a huge forest thingy and it grew in the end (Lydia said something along these lines) and therefore hid the carnival at the end? *lol* I don't know,it sounded more convinving in my head *lol*

Date: 2009-10-14 01:21 am (UTC)The seeds Samuel was planting are definitely intriguing, too. I'm not sure how they would grow SO FAST into a forest lol, but who knows with this show? XD

no subject
Date: 2009-10-14 01:07 pm (UTC)Sylar's still on the show indeed! Nathan-shaped Sylar morphed back into his original form last week, but even before that ~his soul~ has been haunting Parkman so we got to see mean bitch Zachary Quinto tormenting him.

Date: 2009-10-14 09:26 pm (UTC)First, wow I did not pick up on the fact that the cello in Emma's flat was from the carnival. I did notice the sullivan brothers logo in her apartment but I didn't make the connection between the big box Edgar was shuffling around in that breakfast scene and the cello. DUH!
I'm liking Emma so far, I dig her personality and her power finally seems to be somewhat relevant. I may even warm up to hers and Peter's ~romance~ (though my heart bleeds for past lovers scorned *coughHesamcough*), but did that piano playing scene really need to run that long?
I'm feeling terribly guilty because I adore Hesam but I'm really digging Peter/Emma. They are just so charming and Hesam has been MIA for a while and... argh. But I agree that the piano scene was a tad too long. Or just a bit too repetitive after the other pretty lights scene with the choir.
no subject
Date: 2009-10-16 06:47 pm (UTC)And also just the fact we can watch from abroad, heh. ^^Aww, there's no need to feel guilty! Peter's a whore. :D lmao, I don't even know if I believe that, but fandom does, so it's not like those two pairings are mutually exclusive. XD And I do generally like Emma's scenes with Peter, it's just that - as you said - the piano part seemed a little redundant on the heel of that scene with the children's choir. But no feeling guilty, okay? Okay!
Hesam is probably resilient/generous enough that's he's just like, "hey good for you, man". (And only mostly to save face.) LOL.
